how many steps is traveling in basketball
In basketball, a player is allowed to take two steps after picking up the dribble or receiving the ball while standing still. However, if a player takes more than two steps without dribbling, it is considered a traveling violation and results in a turnover.
The two-step rule works as follows:
1. After coming to a complete stop, a player can pivot on one foot.
2. The player can then take two steps in any direction before they must either pass, shoot, or begin dribbling again.
It’s important to note that if a player takes more than two steps, or if they start dribbling after already taking two steps, it will be called a traveling violation.
