How to Add a New Mailbox in Outlook
Adding a new mailbox in Outlook is a straightforward process that allows users to manage multiple email accounts from a single interface. Whether you are using Outlook on your computer or accessing it through the web, this guide will walk you through the steps to add a new mailbox to your Outlook account.
Step 1: Open Outlook
To begin, launch Outlook on your computer or access the Outlook Web App through your web browser. If you are using the desktop application, ensure that you are logged in with the correct email account.
Step 2: Access the Account Settings
In the Outlook desktop application, click on the “File” tab in the upper-left corner. From the dropdown menu, select “Account Settings” and then choose “Account Settings” again from the subsequent menu.
Step 3: Add a New Email Account
In the Account Settings window, click on the “New” button under the “E-mail” tab. This will open the Add New Account wizard.
Step 4: Fill in the Account Details
Enter the email address you want to add in the “E-mail Address” field. Choose the type of account (e.g., Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) from the dropdown menu. If you are unsure, select “Manual setup or additional server types.”
Step 5: Configure the Server Settings
In the “Internet E-mail Settings (Advanced)” tab, enter the following information:
– Account Type: IMAP or POP3, depending on your email provider’s requirements.
– incoming server: Enter the incoming server address provided by your email provider.
– Outgoing server (SMTP): Enter the outgoing server address provided by your email provider.
– Username: Enter your full email address.
– Password: Enter your email account password.
Step 6: Test the Account Settings
Click the “More Settings” button and go to the “Outgoing Server” tab. Check the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” box and select “Use same settings as my incoming mail server.” Then, go to the “Advanced” tab and enter the appropriate port numbers for your email provider.
Click “OK” to close the More Settings window, and then click “Next” to test the account settings. Outlook will attempt to connect to your email server and verify the settings.
Step 7: Complete the Setup
If the account settings are correct, you will see a confirmation message. Click “Finish” to complete the setup process.
Step 8: Manage Your Mailboxes
Your new mailbox is now added to Outlook. To manage your mailboxes, go back to the Account Settings window and click on the “View” button next to the “E-mail” tab. Here, you can see all the mailboxes you have added and make changes to their settings if needed.
By following these steps, you can easily add a new mailbox in Outlook and start managing multiple email accounts from a single interface.
