Materials Needed

Before you begin, gather all the necessary materials. You’ll need:

– Fresh grapes (enough to make the desired amount of juice)
– A juicer or a strainer
– Canning jars with lids and bands
– A canning pot or large pot
– A jar lifter
– A funnel
– A clean cloth or paper towel
– A ladle
– A non-metallic spatula

Step 1: Prepare the Grapes

Start by selecting ripe, healthy grapes. Rinse them thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides. If you prefer, you can also peel the grapes, although this is not necessary for canning.

Step 2: Extract the Juice

Using a juicer or a strainer, extract the juice from the grapes. If you’re using a juicer, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If you’re using a strainer, place the grapes in a bowl and press them through the strainer with a spatula to separate the juice from the seeds and pulp.

Step 3: Prepare the Canning Jars

Wash the canning jars, lids, and bands in hot, soapy water. Rinse them thoroughly and set them aside. If you’re using new jars, you may need to sterilize them by boiling them in water for 10 minutes. If you’re using jars that have been used before, make sure to clean them well and inspect the lids for any signs of damage.

Step 4: Sterilize the Canning Pot
