How to Make Another User on Mac
Creating another user on your Mac can be a useful way to keep your personal and professional lives separate, or to share your computer with family members while maintaining privacy. Whether you’re setting up a new account for a child or a friend, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make another user on your Mac.
Step 1: Open System Preferences
First, click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “System Preferences.” This will open a new window with various options.
Step 2: Click on “Users & Groups”
In the System Preferences window, you’ll see a list of options on the left side. Click on “Users & Groups” to access the user account settings.
Step 3: Click the “+” Button
Once you’re in the “Users & Groups” section, you’ll see a list of all the users currently on your Mac. To add a new user, click the “+” button at the bottom of the list.
Step 4: Enter the New User’s Information
A new window will appear, prompting you to enter the new user’s information. Fill in the fields with the user’s name, full name, and password. You can also choose whether the user has an administrator account or not by selecting the “Allow user to administer this computer” checkbox.
Step 5: Set Up a New User’s Account
After entering the necessary information, click “Add.” You may be prompted to enter your administrator password to confirm the changes. Once you’ve done so, the new user’s account will be created.
Step 6: Customize the New User’s Account
To customize the new user’s account, click on the user’s name in the list of users. You can change the user’s password, remove the user from the list of administrators, or change the user’s home folder path.
Step 7: Log Out and Log In as the New User
To log out of your current account and log in as the new user, click the Apple menu and select “Log Out.” Enter the new user’s password when prompted, and you’ll be logged in as the new user.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully created another user on your Mac. This new user can now have their own desktop, documents, and settings, keeping your personal and professional lives separate.
