Whether you’re traveling or simply want to test out location-based apps, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to change your Google location.
Step 1: Sign in to your Google account
The first step to changing your Google location is to sign in to your Google account. You can do this by visiting the Google My Location page on your computer or by opening the Google Maps app on your smartphone.
Step 2: Go to the ‘My Activity’ section
Once you’re signed in, navigate to the ‘My Activity’ section. This section provides an overview of your Google activity, including your location history. To access it, click on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner of the page and select ‘My Activity’.
Step 3: Manage your location history
In the ‘My Activity’ section, you’ll find a list of all your recent activities. Scroll down and click on ‘Web & App Activity’. Here, you’ll see an option called ‘Location History’. Click on it to view your location history.
Step 4: Turn off location history
To change your Google location, you need to turn off your location history. Click on the three dots next to ‘Location History’ and select ‘Manage Location History’. Then, toggle the switch next to ‘Use location history’ to turn it off.
Step 5: Manually change your location
Once your location history is turned off, you can manually change your Google location. On your computer, click on the ‘Change’ link next to ‘Location’ in the ‘My Activity’ section. Enter the new location you want to set and click ‘Save’.
On your smartphone, open the Google Maps app and tap on the menu icon in the top left corner. Select ‘Your Places’ and then ‘Location’. Enter the new location you want to set and tap ‘Save’.
Step 6: Clear your location history
To ensure that your Google location remains unchanged, it’s a good idea to clear your location history. Go back to the ‘My Activity’ section and click on ‘Web & App Activity’. Then, click on ‘Manage Activity’. Scroll down and click on ‘Delete activities by’. Select the time frame you want to delete and click ‘Delete’.
By following these steps, you can easily change your Google location and manage your location-based services. Remember to keep your location history turned off to maintain your privacy and security.
