How to Restart GeForce Experience Overlay

If you’re a GeForce Experience user, you may have encountered situations where the overlay stops functioning properly. This can be quite frustrating, especially if you rely on it for various features like gameplay streaming, benchmarking, and GeForce Shadow. Restarting the GeForce Experience overlay can often resolve such issues. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to restart the GeForce Experience overlay on your PC.

Step 1: Close GeForce Experience

The first step in restarting the GeForce Experience overlay is to close the application itself. You can do this by clicking on the GeForce Experience icon in your system tray and selecting ‘Exit.’ Alternatively, you can press ‘Ctrl + Shift + Esc’ to open the Task Manager, find GeForce Experience in the list of running processes, and click ‘End Task.’

Step 2: Disable GeForce Experience Service

Once GeForce Experience is closed, you need to disable its service to ensure it restarts correctly. Press ‘Win + R’ to open the Run dialog, type ‘services.msc’ in the text field, and press ‘Enter.’ This will open the Services window.

Scroll through the list of services and find ‘NVIDIA GeForce Experience.’ Right-click on it and select ‘Stop.’ This will temporarily disable the service.

Step 3: Delete GeForce Experience Cache

Next, you need to delete the GeForce Experience cache to ensure a clean restart. Open the GeForce Experience folder by pressing ‘Win + R,’ typing ‘C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NvContainerAgent,’ and pressing ‘Enter.’ In this folder, find the ‘Cache’ folder and delete it.

Step 4: Restart GeForce Experience Service

After deleting the cache, you can now restart the GeForce Experience service. Go back to the Services window, right-click on ‘NVIDIA GeForce Experience,’ and select ‘Start.’ This will reactivate the service and allow the overlay to function correctly.

Step 5: Open GeForce Experience

Finally, open GeForce Experience by clicking on its icon in the system tray or searching for it in your PC’s search bar. The overlay should now be working correctly, and you can enjoy its features once again.

By following these simple steps, you can effectively restart the GeForce Experience overlay and resolve any issues you may be experiencing. Remember to keep your GeForce Experience up to date to ensure the best performance and stability.
