how much time in college basketball
In college basketball, the game consists of two halves, each lasting 20 minutes for men’s basketball and 10 minutes for women’s basketball. The total regulation time is 40 minutes for men and 20 minutes for women.
If the game is tied at the end of regulation time, overtime periods are played. Each overtime period lasts 5 minutes. Overtime continues until a winner is determined.
Additionally, there are breaks, such as halftime (15 minutes), and media timeouts, which can affect the total length of a game. On average, a college basketball game lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours when factoring in stoppages, timeouts, and other delays.
